Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actor, singer as well as a dancer. Her first Broadway performances, she starred the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of the majority of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors in theatre and on television. she continues that award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently in production on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC as an Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail is at the control of the show. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment trial in more than a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the popular CBS comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. Other Broadway credits for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
